The Department of Microbiology is a community share a common passion for research and learning. About 40% of our faculty have an M.D. and 40% a Ph.D. with the latter holding joint appointments in other departments in the University.


 

Vision
The department of Microbiology will help the medical students acquire new knowledge and skills essential for the study and practice of Medicine.​

 


Mission
The microbiology department aims to introduce the students to some desirable independent-learning habits and attitudes necessary to pursue further training in the College of Medicine and thereafter in clinical practice.​

 

 

Goals
​At the completion of this course students are expected to be able to:
​Recognize the relationship between microbes and our life.
Study the harmful and the beneficial effects of certain microbes
Recognize the major characteristics of microorganisms.
Discuss the pathogenesis of microbial infections.
Discuss the Microbial genetics and its effects in our life.
Acquire some of the common clinical and laboratory skills at a preliminary level.
Study how the immune system works to prevent infections.
Discuss microbes as the cause of diseases.
