Since 2013, the department has been recognized as a training center for Saudi fellowship students in preventive medicine. Currently, efforts are underway to establish postgraduate programs in family medicine, preventive medicine, and public health, such as a diploma in public health and a professional certificate in medical statistics and research. These programs are in the final review stage to begin admitting students.
Faculty members oversee the research of students and publishing it in reputable scientific journals. The department's faculty members have numerous scientific research papers published in reputable international journals.
The department's members participate in community awareness campaigns for chronic diseases and work on early detection through the university's service center, field campaigns in public facilities, and using social media and remote services.
