The Department of Biochemistry is part of the Basic Sciences Department of the Faculty of Medicine. The department contributes to the scientific and technical rehabilitation of students in the medical biochemistry field in order to support the country with qualified cadres by providing theoretical lectures, training of students in laboratories and participation in scientific research and students of the second division of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and in providing the required information from the specialization in the different educational units for students of the Faculty of Medicine up to the eighth level.
The Department of Medical Biochemistry is a community share a common passion for research and learning. About 55% of our faculty have an M.D. and 35% a Ph.D.

Objectives
Ensure that students acquire basic knowledge in medical biochemistry, through strong educational curricula.
Provide the latest information in the biochemistry of students.
Training students in scientific and academic research methods and problem solving.
Describe the metabolic pathways of carbohydrates, fats, proteins and nucleic acids that show their main functions,
Determine basal metabolic rate, RDA and a balanced diet.
Glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol, albumin, creatinine, uric acid, urea and potassium in the blood.
Discussion and determination of natural and non-natural urine components.
